Audio concept for Gamle Aker Church

TRÅD AS developed the audio concept for Gamle Aker Church, Oslo’s oldest building. The solution combines modern technology with minimal visual impact and respect for the church’s historic architecture.
Development of audio concept
Church

At TRÅD, we are very proud to have assisted the Oslo Church Council with developing the audio concept for Gamle Aker kirke. The church, also known as Oslo’s Medieval Church, was built in the mid-1100s. It is the oldest building in Oslo and is, of course, protected. When upgrading to a modern audio solution, speech must be distributed naturally to all listeners with minimal structural intervention and the most discreet design possible. Based on this, TRÅD prepared technical specifications in collaboration with the client, architects and related disciplines, and carried out a procurement process for the audio system. We also assisted with infrastructure planning for the updated solution, taking future needs into account.

The audio system, scheduled for installation around the turn of the year, is based on very slim column loudspeakers delivered in the desired colour. With this, the client will receive a modern and efficient audio solution tailored to their needs, with minimal visual impact on the church’s architecture.

We thank you for the trust and congratulate you on the acquisition!
